I took this picture out the side of the truck as we drove along. We rode all across Africa like this, legs dangling out of the open-sided truck. This is Ralph. As we approached the Sahara, it got drier and drier.
(I resorted to a trick to make this picture presentable. I scanned it twice at two different exposure settings, and combined the images. It was impossible to get both Ralph and the camel in reasonable contrast otherwise.) Here is another picture using this trick.
